HOW YOU CAN HELP OR VOLUNTEER:When I started Foundation Hope, Inc., my desire was to serve those in need. I have been taught that if you see a hurt…heal it and if you see a need…fill it. That principle seemed very simple to me as I started pursuing my purpose in life to honor God with all my endeavors. I never dreamed that I would be building houses and doing what I am doing today. I dreamed of living a life that pleased God and served my fellow man in a way that brings credibility to the faith of Christianity. I say all this to hopefully awaken the possibility for anyone visiting our website or volunteering with our foundation to think ‘out of the box’ as you consider your involvement with this effort. Nothing is impossible with God!!!! Teddy Roosevelt said it like this, "Everyman owes a part of his time and money to the business or industry in which he is engaged. No man has a moral right to withhold his support from an organization that is striving to improve conditions within his sphere." BUT God said it BEST: "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. (Phil. 2: 3-4)" Thank You for considering this opportunity and May God Bless the works of your hands! Our efforts succeed only by working in partnership with: Skilled Trades Volunteers: Carpenters, plumbers, electricians, painters, and the like – willing to volunteer just one week of their time and expertise make all the difference. Their efforts are well-organized, managed and appreciated. General Volunteers and Individual Donations: Volunteers from colleges and universities, churches and elsewhere are welcome and utilized. Donations from individuals and groups are also gratefully received and put to immediate work. VOLUNTEER TRIPS: Volunteers are needed to help Foundation Hope rebuild homes in the MS Gulf Coast area. We are currently repairing and rebuilding 44 homes through a grant provided by the People of Saudi Arabia, The Favre Fourward Foundation and The Deanna Favre HOPE Foundation along with the generous gifts of compassionate individuals across the country. These homes must be completed by June 30, 2007. So, We greatly need the assistance of licensed and skilled tradesmen in the areas of carpentry, framers, roofers, electricians, plumbers, architects, engineers, surveyors, drywall laborers, painters and landscapers. In addition to these trades, any volunteer help to prepare meals, man our volunteer center and coordinate incoming groups is certainly welcomed and greatly appreciated. Church groups, mission groups, youth groups and Alternative Spring Break groups are also welcomed and encouraged to come participate in restoring HOPE to those adversely affected by this natural disaster. So many people can help right from the comfort of their own home and make a tremendous impact on the residents here, while helping Foundation Hope get as many of their resources directly to the residents. Below is a list of auxiliary volunteers helpers needed:
DONATIONS: Donations can be made in several areas. Again, many people are not able to physically come give of their time on the MS Gulf Coast. Helping us help the residents is of vital importance. At times it can be difficult for people to understand the amount of work, time and funds involved with giving a gift of this sort. You often hear people say: "You have to spend money to make money!" The same is true for efforts of this sort. "it takes money, to give gifts, money or In-Kind donations away." As with any business we have overhead costs, utilities, salaries to pay, materials to purchase, fuel costs and the like. For example: We have to purchase trucks to pick up building materials so they can be delivered to residents. Along with the costs of the truck itself, you have fuel costs, insurance costs and maintenance costs to keep the truck operating properly and efficiently. (**Please note that we are a 501c3 registered charity and we do provide tax-deducible receipts for any donation that is made to the foundation**) Below you will find a list of areas where donations can be made and would be of a great help to the residents and to Foundation Hope:
